About Me
Johan Farrugia, founder and managing director of Peak Point Advisory and Peak Point Legal, obtained his Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Malta in 2012 and was subsequently admitted to the Maltese Bar. Throughout the years, Johan has assisted and advised clients on the setting up of businesses and joint ventures, on a number of deals both on a local and cross- border level, on the licensing of entities and regulatory matters associated therewith, mergers and acquisitions, setting up of international corporate structures, and group reorganisations. Some key assignments include:
- Acting as advisor in the acquisition of a number of local credit institutions including a local systemically important bank;
- The setting up and licensing of a number of payment institutions and E-money Institutions (EMIs);
- Compliance and ongoing legal advice and assistance to a number of operational EMIs and banking institutions;
- The setting up of a number of locally authorised funds;
- The setting up and licensing of a local challenger bank;
- The setting up and licensing of a local regulated market;
- Acting as director and company secretary on a number of locally listed or licensed institutions;
- Acting as legal advisor to a number of entities (both local and foreign), assisting in the successful procurement of ca. €2 billion in funds in corporate finance from the retail and institutional markets via debt issues and IPOs; and
- Acting as legal advisor to a number of major local property development and hospitality enterprises.
